Krishna be in My Heart CD
Lord Krishna is considered a divine avatar, the descent of Divinity into human form, and is highly regarded in India. Many of these Bhajans (devotional songs) have been composed by a monk living in an ashram in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. They are the outpouring of a devotees’ devotional craving for the Lord in the aspect of Krishna. Many of them are quite popular in India. Bhajans like #2, Goverdhan Giridhari Jai (Victory to the Holder of the Govardhana Mountain), #4, Vrindaban Bihari Jai (Victory to the Enchanter of Vrindaban), #5, Krishna Baso Man Mein (O Krishna, Be in My Heart), depict the divine qualities reflected by Krishna as an avatar. Bhajan #6, Bhaj Givindam (Chant the name – Govindam) is an adaptation of one of the chants of Adi Shankaracharya – first in the line of Shankaracharyas (leader of the ancient Swami order). Each one is followed by a Naam Jap kirtan, the repetitive chanting of the Lord’s different names.
Most of the lyrics and music were written by an Indian Monk, and sung by Naval Pant in Hindi or Sanskrit and accompanied by professional musicians in India. Naval Pant is a Yogoda Sat-Sanga devotee (Indian branch of Self-Realization Fellowship founded by Paramahansa Yogananda)
